About this blog

Hi All :)

I am currently in Townsville after arriving yesterday from Mission Beach.

In Mission Beach we had a day and a half relaxing, swimming, walking along the beach - living the life :)

We arrived in Townville after a 5 hour hot and sweaty bus journey, to find the city centre deserted!

We have now been told that not many people venture out in the day, or are busy at work... We have found ourself a cheap and speedy internet cafe, and will explore the rest of Townsville later this morning. Where we will visit the Aquarium and Musuem. We will be picked up from the bus station at 1 o clock this afternoon, and will be heading to Airlie Beach, we are meant to arrive at approx 5oclock this evening.

Whilst at Airlie Beach we will start our WhitSunday's Sailing Experience...The boat we were on was called the Siska, and was a small sailing boat. It took us about 2 and a half hours to arrive at our reef spot, after getting drenched by the waves on deck, and consequently crystallising with salt in the sun..We stopped off at our first spot where we have a 10mins snorkelling period...before myself Clare and another girl geared up for our exciting by scary experience of scuba diving -for the first time!

After getting geared up, we embarked down the steps and launched ourselves into the water... We slowly went down with the dive instructor who taught us how to pop our ears as we went down...even though i was unsuccessful at this...this dive still continued :) We followed the rope dow to approx 12m...then let go...and wow! The most amazing experience, and believe me they make it look easy..the oxygen take doesn't weigh any less under water!! We were under water for what seemed like hours, but was only 40mins...Whilst diving the instructor would point things out and hand us starfish to hold and other interesting unidentifiable creatures of the sea!!

Once we had surfaced, and swam back to the boat, removed our diving gear, took a sigh of relief, and had lunch...After lunch we moved onto move snorkelling spots.

That night we slept on the boat..which is what you could call an experience, Clare and I shared a bed, and were either lucky enough or not so lucky to have a pop up window onto the deck...When we got too hot very lucky...once it started raining we you were woken up, not too lucky!

The next we woke up early and went to WhiteHaven Beach, where we were given a small tour and a talk about the island, and the beach..This is where we donned our stinger suits and set out into the sea with the amazing white sand as our back drop..This is were we spent a couple of hours, before getting back onto the boat.

Our last snorkelling stop of the day, included fish food, this was great for some, not to good for Lucie (who isn't that keen on fish) But this defiantly helped with taken pictures :D

After a tiring day of snorkelling, bush walking and lying on a sunny beach we made our way back to Airlie Beach, where we arrived around 3pm....

Lots of love xxxxxx
