Susan's Great Adventures
About this blog
Take-off day from St. John's was bright and early - 5:30 a.m. our plane was taxiing down the runway. Eldon and I were on board with hand luggage only, as we had a 40 minute connection in Washington, and large bags spell trouble tracking down. Besides, I am not on a travel fashion show. The intention is to help with building a Habitat for Humanity home in Thailand.
We settled in for the long haul: 28 hours flying time and 31 hors till we were to arrive in Bangkok. We flew west, and that darned old sun just kept following us, so that when my Nfld set watch said midnight, it was still clear as day outside. If one can sleep on planes, life is much easier: We slept and ate and read and watched "telly" and in the process we lost 10 1/2 hours, and arrived in Bangkok near midnight of the following day.
Bangkok at night is a busy, busy city, but we barreled along to our hotel, noticing little and we were delighted to find a clean modern hotel (Ibis) and a tidy room waiting for our weary bodies. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz !
