Alaska Adventure_Summer, 2010

About this blog

Finally, our trip to Alaska becomes a reality after many days and nights of fantasizing it since May, 2010. David and I will make the trip. We thought we couldn't make it because we had to do our front porch in mid-July. But since we have some arrangements that make it impossible for David to travel with me to China next year, and it did not seem to be possible to travel this winter, it will be unfair to have two summer without traveling for David. So finally we decided that we put off our front porch project with our contractor until after our trip to Alaska. So on July 15th, we booked two tickets to Anchorage, Alaska.

Since then, we spent many sleepless nights to research where we should go, what hotels or B$Bs to book, where to take the cruise and how many days we should stay in each place. We used youtubes, travel blogs, travel advisers and many other tools to get an idea what each place is like. Finally we came up with the travel plan that suits both of us. We will fly from Lexington to Anchorage, Stay in Anchorage for the night, explore Kenai Peninsula the next day and stay in Seward for the night, and then head to Denali National Park, stay near the park for two nights and then head towards McCarthy, and explore the Wrangel National Park, hiking and see Root Glacier, take the airplane to take a day tour to one of the deepest heart of glaciers, mountains, and spend another day explore the area and historical site of the Copper mines.

After we come out from McCarthy, we will then drive to Valdez, explore the area and take the Prince William Sound cruise to see glaciers, sea animals and whales over the sea. Stay in Valdez for two nights and then drive back to Anchorage for the night. We booked a late flight to Lexington on August 2nd at 8:30 pm, so we will arrive in Lexington, Kentucky on August 3rd.

This is going to be a strenuous trip, but I am prepared for an adventure together with David.
