Blog thumbnail

About this blog

Course description: Study of the interactions between animals and plants, with special focus on phytophagy, pollination, seed dispersal, and myrmecophytism. Lectures will present site-relevant conceptual information, which students will apply during fieldwork. Each site represents a unique opportunity to explore different plant/animal interactions experimentally. The three field sites include La Selva (LS), Monteverde (MV), and Palo Verde (PV) research stations in Costa Rica. These represent three distinct habitat types: Tropical Rain Forest, Cloud Forest, and Tropical Dry Forest. At LS and PV, small groups of students will design and execute research projects from a list of suggested topics or of their own creation.
