Great American Road Trip

About this blog

The following is taken directly from my handwritten journal entries. This trip occurred the summer I turned 21, and was taken in conjunction with my brother. It was a post 9/11 drive through America. The country's atmosphere was changing, and patriotism was on a high note. Coming from just outside of NYC it was an interesting portrayal of the rest of America and just how different things could be from the East Coast.

This was my first big trip. I had had a number of trips driving from NJ to FL with my mom as a kid, and had done a number of small drives around New England by myself or with friends, but this would be the start of a want to constantly see more of whats out there. This was the trip that let me know picking the route on the run was ok and that I didn't need a guided tour if I was going to be out there for more than a day or two.

For me its a great remembrance of my naiveness of that age. At the time I thought I knew a thing or two because I had seen a few countries in Europe and travelled around New England. I would come to find out I don't know much and the world has a lot more to offer than the East Coast corridor of the USA.

I have chosen not to edit or add anything to my notes as I wanted to remember it as I did then. Its a bit crude, but hey this was my first endeavour.
