Richie and Sarah's Canadian Rockies Travel Blog
About this blog
This blog will begin on the 25th July 2010 when our Canadian Rockies travelling begins.
Our journey starts by landing in Calgary, home of the 1988 Winter Olympics, and the famous Calgary Stampede.
We leave and head south to the township of Fernie, by doing so we cross from Alberta into British Columbia, we cross this state border quite frequently. In Fernie we will be exploring the Raging Elk River.
After Fernie we travel North to Banff, where the list of things to do is endless: Lake O Hara, Lake Louise, Lake Minnewanka, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, lots of BBQ's, and cold Canadian beer.
We leave Banff behind and head for Jasper, going by the Columbia Icefield on one on the greatest roads in the world: The Icefields Parkway. The glaciers we see include: The Crowfoot glacier, and The Athabasca glacier, which we are taking a hike on.
In Jasper we visit Whistler Mountain, and Mount Robson, whilst not forgetting Pyramid Lake, and Maligne Lake.
Jasper will then be a dot on the horizon as we leave and approach Waterton Lakes National Park, which borders the far north of the USA. Sights their include the Red Rock Canyon, and yes some more cold Canadian beer.
The journey ends 13th/14th August.
If you have been, or are one of our Canadian buddies and have some must see travel tips for this area then post them in the comments section of the Fernie 25th July section below.
