We're packing up the SUV and headed not to Beverly, as the song says, but to the City of Treasures, Washington, D.C.! We explored D.C. back in the 90's, newly married with no kids and almost no money. Our base station was a 2 man pup tent set up in the Cherry Hills Campground in Maryland. Our dining involved sack lunches and grilling a la Bennett. This time we're roughing it hotel style. No cooking, no cleaning and a comfy bed to plop into each night! Our journey starts with a 21 hour 2 day drive and 4 kids in the car...do you hear insanity knocking at our door?!!
