Western Australia, with its beautiful forests, white sandy beaches, dramatic southern coastline & wine, lots and lots of wine...and the odd kangaroo (of course).
About this blog
Western Australia is the biggest state in Australia. It's bigger than Europe and Britian can fit in it something like 10 times. Of course, much of it is entirely inhospitable, but the 500km surrounding Perth (the most isolated city in the world) contains pretty much everything you could ask for in a travel destination; even if the historical sights are generally only about twenty years older than my house.
You can dive the Swan (113m long destroyer sank in 1997), sit on white sand beaches with stingrays patrolling the shallows (Hamlin Bay), walk on 100-million year old ranges, see kangaroos, penguins and emus, plus of course enjoy the excellent wines of the region, including Margaret River, plus the lesser known surrounding regions.
