About this blog

For Those Of You Who Don't Know Us Hello, we are Roger and Phyllis, we are in our mid fifty's and have taken early retirement so that we can fulfil some of our dreams.... See earlier Blogs... and many more we hope ...... For this adventure we are planning to cycle the length of Great Brittan, from John O'Groats to Lands' End. The sign at Lands' End states it is about 874 miles however, due to us taking smaller roads and cycle routes it will be considerably more. Watch our Blog and watch the miles clock up,,,,,,,, Roger is an amputee; he lost his lower right forearm in an accident at work 33 years ago and up to a couple of years ago had never tried to ride a bike since. I fancied the idea of us may be getting a "Tandem", me being on the front and having to steer,. We tried this ONCE !!! I just couldn't keep the bike upright,, Roger ended up in the front,,steering with one hand and using one brake!!! When we returned home Roger was determined to ride a bike on his own so we borrowed our sons and Roger started to practice. As you can see, now 3 years later and already having cycled 700 KMs in a very FLAT HOT Vietnam we are trying this very HILLY and probably COLD and WET challenge. Every time we have talked to friends and family about our trip not only have they said we must be mad but also that we must do it for a charity. We weren't sure at first but we were out training and riding to the top of Haytor, a high landmark in our local area, when we meet John Cooper. We had never meet John before but after chatting to him about our forth coming adventure, he convinced us and gave us our first donation of 10.00, Thank You John.!!! So please follow our Blog,, I aim to update everyday while cycling and please support our charity.
