About this blog

In this trip I will be flying from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada into Zagreb, Croatia , where I will stay for 4 days, tour an amazing amount of art and architecture dating back hundreds of years. I then plan to drive with a guide to Ljubljana and Bled Slovenia and then to Opatija, Croatia. From there, we will go to the Opatija and down the Dalmatia Coast, stopping first at the Krka National Park near Sibenik. This coast is said to be extremely beautiful with many beaches and small towns with their own character. We will stop at Zadar, Sibenik, and Trogir, on the way to Split. We will make a day trip to the Island of Hvar from Split and then drive through Markarska, and other small towns and into Dubrovnik. For more information on the history of Croatia and the war of l991 that saw a Croatia declare its independence from Yugoslavia, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Republic_of_Croatia

After 2 days in Dubrovnik, I will fly to Rome for 5 days and tour the Vatican and and various Churches and other prominent sites. I will be concentrating on the art and life of Rome, rather than the Roman Ruins because I have been to Rome before and have just returned from Egypt, Israel and Turkey where I saw a great number of ancient ruins.

So if you are interest in art and architecture and what the cafes and markets of Rome and Croatia are like, I invite you to follow this Blog.
