Fishys' adventure in Senegal
About this blog
This blog tells the story of our vacations in Senegal.
This year seemed longer and not always easy, so we decided to relax and get some Sun. No crazy adventures and "get to know everything" spirit... just relaxation and sunbathing!
Senegal is a country in western Africa and it owes his name to the Sénégal river that borders it to the east and north. Dakar is the capital city of Senegal.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, numerous trading posts, belonging to various colonial empires, were established along the coast. The town of St. Louis became the capital of French West Africa, before it was moved to Dakar in 1902. Dakar later became its capital in 1960 at the time of independence from France.
Senegal is a poor country (like many others in Africa), but hospitality is one of the main caracteristics of this country. People are nice, polite and very helpful, despite the fact that they want to sell you their own products. So, be polite and nice too. They have great wood and sand painting craftmanship and extraordinary sellers... so be fearce in your negotiations :)
We didn't know what to expect with our visit to Senegal, but in the end we came amazingly surprised.
Senegal is definitely a place to visit.
