We first talked about visiting Turkey several years ago; maybe by a cruise that would include Egypt or Greece. We decided against the cruise option, and then a little war broke out. Although not fans of organized tours, we thought Turkey would be a good country to give it a try due to recent turmoil and distances to travel.

The sights weren't crowded with peak season long gone, and the weather was unseasonably gorgeous. The trip was a blast, and hopefully the photos prove it!

Turkey holds a tremendous amount of history and culture for those interested in exploring it. And if you are a 'Westerner' interested in exploring and experiencing a predominantly Muslim country, it can't be beat!
