We were to be the last crew of the round Britain trip to mark the 25th anniversary of the sailing club. There were 6 of us: Richard, the skipper, Tom, Iain, David, Dave and me. We were to meet the boat at Gosport, which is adjacent to Portsmouth which has a long naval tradition. Richard had done a big supermarket shop to get food for us all for the next few days, and had planned a trip to take us along the south coast of England as far a Dover and then to cross the English Channel and see how far we could get in the time available going northwards along the French coast.
