A long awaited return visit to Central America, this time to the parks and tropical forests of Costa Rica.

We traveled with a group of spirited and adventurous folks, all seasoned travelers from a variety of backgrounds and from across the U.S. meeting up in San Jose for our fly/drive tour of Costa Rica. They were delightful companions.

Most of our travel was by van with an amazingly skilled driver, Julio. He negotiated some of the worst roads I have ever encountered with ease and calm.

Our guide, Andre, was another gem. With a Masters degree in botany and a passion for birding and for his country he enriched our experience in so many ways. I think we only stumped him once when it came to plant or bird identification. Without him and his keen eyesight we would have overlooked countless discoveries.
