North to Alaska

About this blog

This summer we are taking our boat, Pandora, to Alaska. We left Scappoose, OR, on May 28. On the 29th we headed out the Columbia River Bar and up the coast but decided it was just too rough and turned around after about an hour. We spent a couple of days in Ilwaco, WA, a cute harbor village on the Columbia River.

We left Ilwaco at 6AM on Sunday and 22 hours later arrived in Neah Bay, WA. Jill was sea sick and Tim, once again, got Pandora up the coast safely. We spent Monday and Monday night anchored in Neah Bay. During the night the wind was gusting to 25 mph. We spent about an hour (at 2:30 AM) sitting in the pilot house watching our GPS to be sure our anchor held during the blow. We were fine, but didn't get much sleep.

Monday we had a smooth ride from Neah Bay to Port Angeles, WA. Spending the night here and heading north tomorrow. We are looking forward to a good night's sleep at the dock tonight.
