Exploring Southern Italy's wine country.
About this blog
Starting out on the east coast of Scotland, then traversing Scotland by car to The Outer Hebridean Islands off the west coast, and then down to beautiful southern Italy to learn how to make wine is how I decided to spend the summer of 2008.
Sprinkle in kitesurfing with locals and eating food that makes even the finest American meal taste like cardboard and you've got a good idea of how Italy is treating me.
I am working on a winery called Rivera which produces about a dozen types of wine and was the first ever to blend a local grape called 'Nero di Troia' with other grapes like Montepulciano. The inspiration for the blend came from Randall Graham of the acclaimed Bonny Doon Vineyard. Randall loved Nero di Troia's distinct taste.
