About this blog

OK, so here's the plan. We head off from Sydney to Sri Lanka for our first stop where we spend 9 days, travelling around the island with our driver, checking out the tea plantations, an elephant sanctuary and loads of templates and historic sites. We then make our way over to the Maldives and get a sea plane to Centara resort in the South Ari Atoll. We chill there for a week, enjoying amazing sunsets and diving.

Once we have had a chance to completely wide down and free ourselves from normal life we then travel to Chennai in India to embrace the whirl-wind of chaos which lies in the world's largest democracy, India. We then travel down the coast to the southernmost tip, then back up the west coast passing through the beautiful region of Karala, up through the popular tourist destination of Goa and then onto the cosmopolitan city, Mumbia. After spending a few days there, hopefully checking out the Bollywood scene, we then head up to the capital Delhi, taking a detour via the pink city, Jaipur in the arid region of Rajistan to ride camels if we have time.

Next stop England for a few days to get over the Delhi Belly. Once rehydrated and re-energised we catch a flight to Saint Jean Pied de Port in Southern France near the foothills of the Pyranese to start the Comino de Compostella, a 1000KM pilgrimage across Northern Spain. This will take a month of solid walking and errm, walking.

So then it's back to England again (not for the first or last time on our trip) for another short stopover to swap our hiking boots for flip-flops and then we're back to the continent, this time the inspiration of the renaissance, Tuscany in Italy where we have a wedding to attend and no doubt plenty of Chianti to drink. From here we head east, a short hop across the Adriatic Sea to Split in Croatia. We then travel by train passing through Serbia, Bulgaria and arriving Istanbul in Turkey, the gateway to the East.

Having trawled through the bazaars for a couple of days we will be ready to relax, and what better way to do it than lying on the deck of a Gulet, a traditional Turkish boat, for a week. Snorkelling is optional but probably a must. With salt in our ears and sand in our hair we head back to England again.

So now to the grand finale, a 45 day Safari through the heart of Africa. Starting in Kenyian capital of Nairobi we travel down to the southernmost tip of Africa to Cape Town, South Africa in the back of a truck. First Tanzania and the Serengeti to see the Ngorongoro Crater, then over to Zanzibar for a few days relaxing before driving through Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia the finally South Africa. On the way we will be experiencing lots of exciting stuff, you'll have to log on to see just what!
