About this blog

Welcome to our Great Adventure!

Following our last 'little adventure' trying to negotiate local buses in Turkey we decided we fancied a bit more adventure in our lives & also thought we deserved it after 25 years of marriage...

So after trawling over hundreds of brochures & websites (Debs job) and making sure the dates didn't clash with golf dates (Tony's job) we finally settled on our dream holiday.

We've never visited any of these places before so they will all be firsts for us. We'll let you know how we get on through this blog as often as we can and tell you about the places we've been, the things that we've seen and the places we want to return too.

So, the itinerary is as follows:

We fly from London to Singapore where we have 3 days to recover from the jet lag (can you believe it's a 14 hour flight? 14 hours of Tony snoring OMG!!!) and to locate any lost luggage ;)

Then we join our boat - sorry SHIP, the Nautica, in Singapore harbour and set sail to Java. Some time on route we will be crossing the equator, so we will make sure we check which way the water goes down the plug hole so we will know when we are in the southern hemisphere.

From Java onto Bali for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Not sure what Christmas dinner will be like in 40+ degree heat but I'm sure we'll manage, especially with no washing up!

Then onto Komodo to see the dragons & snakes, hopefully we'll keep all our limbs and not get bitten by a cobra. So then it's sayonara Asia & g'day Oz.

Sailing to Darwin, Thursday Island, Cairns, Townsville, Whitsunday Island with Hamilton Beach one of the top 10 beaches in the world, then Brisbane & finally disembark in Sydney.

A few nights in Sydney, then a long flight to Bangkok. Hopefully we will have a local guide there who will show us the sights including the tiger temple & the elephant river crossing.

And finally, to recover from the ordeal, we move onto our beach villa with golf course & spa in Phuket to relax before our long flight home.

Anyone who knows us is more than aware that if anything unusual happens it's usually to us. But if we can avoid riots, earthquakes, swine flu, tropical storms, tsunamis, dragons, snakes, big spiders & bushfires, oh and the boat doesn't sink, we'll be back in the UK for late January.

We hope you will join us on our Great Adventure and follow our blog; we've planned the route, had our jabs and started packing, not long now, just need to remember those passports - now where did we put them????
