My first time back to Japan in 33 years! I wished to return to visit a traditional Japanese village. I was not too interested in sight-seeing, since I had spent 2 years in Northern Japan 33 years earlier. I just wanted to immerse myself in that traditional town and see how the Japanese lived. I especially wished to stay in a traditional Japanese inn- the ryokan. After a bit of googling, I impulsively chose to visit Gujo Hachiman in Gifu prefecture-a mountain villiage built along three rivers in the center of Japan. I am so glad I did!
