China
About this blog
Oh China. The land of the communists and the highest population in the world. It's a place that doesn't stop surprising, both in good and bad ways. From northeast Beijing, Patrycja, Paulina and I travelled west, then back east to Shanghai, down to Hong Kong then west again to the mountains near Kunming. It was a month long adventure and we saw so many wonderful things. China has every landscape you could ask for and the cities are busy and full of attractions to fill up your day. The people would shock us, from staring and taking pictures of us from a foot away, to old grandma's horking up and spitting everywhere. Sales people follow you around the store as you browse the racks and definately cramp your personal space. On top of that, people are pushy and cut into line, but that's only expected with 1 billion people in your country. They eat chicken feet and pig's feet, and eat ichiban soup everywhere. They drive like crazy people with no lanes or road rules and pedestrians beware! you will never have the right of way. Music blazes from cell phones and men sing along on trains, and they giggle and laugh all the time when we ask a question or talk to them. BUT the mountains, and the rivers, the karst stone cliffs and the rice fields and terraces make up for the downfalls. It's incredibly beautiful and worth the time and effort to explore the whole country. There is still much to be seen, but we made a fair effort at exploring this crazy country!
