Here we go again!

My return trip to Asia has been pretty much a year in the planning - primarily driven by a strong desire to see Laos, which I missed out on my last trip, and with the final impetus being the too-good-to-miss opportunity to get a dirt-cheap airfare when Air Asia launched in NZ. (Christchurch to Kuala Lumpur for NZD$172 - and another $100 or so to get to Vientiane (Laos)).

So what's the plan? It's just a 'short trip' this time: four weeks in Laos, followed by a few days in Thailand before 'stopping' off in Bali on the way home - for about 8-9 days. Probably the North-West corner of Bali, then a return to Lembongan and Penida, small islands just off of Bali. But we'll see.

This blog is really just to keep family and friends updated on our whereabouts, and a diary for me to keep track of where we've been. I'll also record a few details that I hope will be helpful to other travellers who stumble across this blog while trying to plan their trip.

Finally, Trudy, as a special dedication, this blog is for you. Don't let it be said I didn't try to keep you entertained when you should be working! :-P
