Back to SE Asia for the second time this year. How to explain this? Suffice it to say, I loved this part of the world the first time so much that I wanted to return. And this time, Nancy will join me (later, in late December -- she has a job and doesn't get as much time off as I do). I'm starting out with little set itinerary. As Indiana Jones said, "I'm making this up as I go." My arrival is timed to the Loi Krathong full-moon celebration in Chiang Mai. Beyond that Cambodia (Angkor), Vietnam (the Mekong delta and Hoi An on the central coast) and the Gulf of Thailand all look interesting. Also I plan to return to Laos, where I will meet up with Nancy. Other than that..."afoot and light-hearted, I take to the open road..."
