Last year, when Chris and I travelled through Guatemala and Honduras we became intrigued by the Mayan people, their way of life and their incredible history. More than 3000 years ago they created a civilization in the humid jungles, which flourished for nearly 600 years, and then vanished. During that time, they created a complex writing system, devised a calendar, introduced the concept of zero in mathematics, predicted lunar and solar eclipses, and built the tallest structures in the Western Hemisphere. We felt that going back to Central America to learn more about these wonderful people would be a good plan, so on December 11, 2008 we will head to the Yucatan to start our adventure into the Mundo Maya.
