Queen Mary 2 Dubai to New York City
About this blog
She who has cruised on almost every ship there is, however not this Royalty, the Queen Mary 2. There are butterflys in her stomach, anxiousness, sleeplessness and savouring every moment with "Her Royal Highness Poonster Scissor Paws of the Himalayas" (aka Kitty!)
As the cruise unfolds, I will write at every opportunity to keep you informed of a cruise I have always wanted to experience and NOT be working on!
David and I look and laugh at all the luggage we will carry with us. Three large four wheel drives, one garment bag and two carry on bags. We packed so if we loose luggage, we will carry the garment bag on board and at least have our formal clothing and a few extra clothes just in case. We are planning on taking it to the airport this afternoon to weigh and make sure we are just on our weight. American Airlines gives us two check in bags per person, due to Gold Member status with them. However, British Airways charges you $60 per bag over your one free. British Airways also charges you for advance seat selection. $30.00 per person. As always British Airways continues to develop their reputation in wanting a free for all check in instead of organized calm travel conditions for the passengers who are still willing to travel no matter what is going on in the world and through those day late and dollar short security checks we are all too familiar with these days.. The game goes like this, 24 hours, not 23.58 minutes before but 24 hours before, you can go on line and select your seats. And was told by the BA reservation agent that you have to wait 24 hours for the onward flight to Dubai. My response is that we need seats together and if that flight is full, it doesnt make sense we would not be able to receive seats all the way to our destination. We would be in the air during the 24 hour window to get your onward seats. Yet another TRAVEL FOUL FOR British Airways.
