In search of the "underwear ripper" on the Amazon
About this blog

What do you get when you take a boat, fill it with a couple dozen American tourists, strap their ankles with snake gaiters then set it on the Amazon river at Iquitos, Peru, and give it a nudge upstream towards the Pacaya Samiria Reserve? Well, you get a week full of experiences, images and memories that could never be adequately set to words. If your idea of vacationing is sitting on a beach while sipping Margaritas, then the Amazon River is not for you. But, if you are of average endurance, love the outdoors, enjoy meeting a variety of people and can turn a blind eye to local "ways of life" that might be difficult to stomach, then you are ready for the trip of a lifetime.
