GambleRogers St Pk-Atlantic Ocean
About this blog
Our new favorite state park. We were right on the Atlantic and could watch the sunrise from bed. The west winds blew in bugs the first 2 days but east winds blew them out the last 2. The beach was great for fishing, swimming and kayaking-no surf board for me. Best view sites are 17, 19, 21, 23. We were 15 which was next best.Sea breeze=no bugs. Land breeze=No see-ums. We watched for turtles at night and never saw any, but did see several marked, fenced nests along the beach. Just across A1A is the Intracoastal Waterway side with several pavillions, a good boat ramp and a hiking trail thru the dense tropical undergrowth covered dunes. Also several good fishing areas with room to throw a cast net. Saw lots of Porpoises & caught a couple fish. Flipped kayak in a large wave 1/2 mile offshore-SURVIVED thanks to life vest-Waves too rough for me to get back in the kayak. Worried a little about sharks as paddle had flipped up and cut my head and ear. Swam in on my back with 1 hand holding kayak. Dumb to be out there in first place. Enjoy a real bargain. The picture is looking toward the ocean which can be seen in the background below the awning.
