I am going to be living in Russia for the next 5 months (or maybe longer). My husband Mike has been working in Russia for the last 18months on a FIFO arrangement but has recently changed to full time work. We live in a small apartment in the Russian city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Sakhalin Island on the Far East coast of Russia (just above Japan). Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is a small city of approximately 240,000 people, most of whom live in apartment blocks similar to ours. Our apartment is located in the city itself, while most expats live in villages specifically for expats or in the hotels. I will be adding to this travel blog on a regular basis to share my experiences of this vastly different culture!
