Patience is Paradise in the Caribbean
About this blog
Hey there all you amazing vicarious travelers.
This is a further note of where I have traveled in the recent few years - it seems that a lot of you wanted details on these so I decided to create a small blog with a few entries in it.
These trips were not long ones but still quite enjoyable and I had my sons with me for them.
We went to the Caribbean and to Mexico as well as all over Pennsylvania.
What can I say about the Caribbean, actually what can I not say about it...it is a very diverse place yet there is so much commonality between the nations in the entire West Indies (as it is called as well).
If Caribbean citizens have one single unifying theme, it is a strong sense of place, and of home. There is also - always, beneath the humor, which is a West Indian characteristic - a sadness: an awareness of a past that can never really be forgotten, or forgiven. For the West Indies or the Caribbean always had an underlying violent and mysterious past. There was so many conquering tides that shaped these many island nations. Yet the people persevered and pressed on - they survived a lot of hardships along the way once their colonial rulers moved on. They essentially built one of the most traveled destinations in the entire world. People flock to the hot surf and sandy beaches from all over (the climate here other than during hurricane season is very inviting. The pristine white sandy beaches and beautiful green/blue waters make it ideal for swimmers, surfers, sports minded and adventurers of all types to come and explore what the area has to offer.
There is so much to see and do in the Caribbean that one never tires of it...Let's explore shall we.... :). - but before we do - let's see what the great state of Pennsylvania has to offer us...
Ok, onward we go - are you ready...first stop Gettysburg...intriguing to say the least I might add but enjoyable.
