Jon's Germany Water Polo Adventure
About this blog
From July 31 - August 7, Cologne, Germany will host the Gay Games 2010. This will be the 8th incarnation of the games, and Cologne is expecting an impressive 10,000 participants from over 70 different countries and my team, the Atlanta Rainbow Trout (truly, a name that conveys fear and menace) will be fielding one of our strongest teams in years. Fingers crossed, hoping for a medal! I fly overnight to Duesseldorf on Thursday, July 29, landing on July 30. The Duesseldorf airport is only about 30 minutes from Cologne. I hope to be checked into my hotel for a quick nap before heading out iright away in search of hearty German food and a tasty Koelsch or two! We're staying at the Hotel Intercontinental near the Cologne cathedral - special thanks to my roommate Matt and the D.C. team for procuring rooms at a very reasonable rate. Can't wait to start this adventure! This will be my first time in Germany in years without a group of students and I'm excited to enjoy time with my friends and some serious Water Polo!
