Lucky Horseshoe Tour of Ireland
About this blog
Actually, it was not shaped much like a horseshoe, but Lucky Distorted Letter J Tour didn't sound very Irish.
Granny took her daughter D, and D's daughters (thus Granny's granddaughters) M age 19 and A age 14 for eight days in Ireland.
We rented a Ford Mondeo from Dan Dooley, our favorite Ireland rental agency as there are no surprises at the counter for exhausted travelers. All we had to pay for on arrival was a full tank of diesel and the day we returned the car full my credit card was credited and even got a refund of the Foreign Transaction Fee. We drove about910 km or 1,465 miles in 8 days, put diesel in once during the trip and just before turning it in.
The Mondeo held the four of us comfortably and with a bit of creative packing the trunk held five checkthroughs and four carry-ons.
A got pulled aside in San Antonio airport when her crayons looked suspiciously like bullets. The flight over was uneventful after that.
We landed in Dublin, hit the ATM (Granny had three ATM cards for her account so could pull three times the daily limit), purchased big bottles of water, got our car and away we went.
