GETTING OUT OF DODGE & GOING TO DEADHORSE
About this blog
After three years of smaller warm-ups, the next two weeks begins my first genuine, true-blue great adventure through the Canadian Northwest and up the Alaskan Highway until the road dead ends in Deadhorse. About 15 months of planning and dreams have been invested in this trip already. Before the first mile is made, this trip has been well worth the investment of time and energy. I now have three new friends who I've met along the way who will be joining me. Just the dreams of the trip-the great expectations-have awakened a drive for adventure in all of us. This is the virgin trip to the Great Northwest for three of us and a dream come true to do it on the greatest motorcycles riding the planet. The trip is 17 Days...6200+ miles...and packed with as much excitement in four grown-up boys as we had on Christmas Eve when we were 8 years old and couldn't wait to get our first two wheeler --bicycles of course. Now with just days to go we can hardly do anything but bide our time until Friday, July 16th when we "get out of Dodge" and finally start making our way to Deadhorse, Alaska -- the end of the road.
Finally, I would like to dedicate my trip to the enlisted soldiers in the US Army's 75th Ranger Regiment. There is a special warrior for whom this trip is dedicated. He is the greatest warrior I have ever had the privilege to know and I will be thinking and praying for him every day of this trip. He is my hero.
