Day 1 Arrive at Juan Santa Maria International Airport. Tour Description To get to the different attractions included during this excursion we will drive by the city of Alajuela passing by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park.
As we ascend towards the Poás Volcano we will notice the change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful landscape.
On the way to the volcano we will visit Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and a coffee tour, in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn about the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce one of the best coffees in Costa Rica. Learn about the careful process involved on the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean.
After the coffee tour we will continue to Poás Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this beautiful national park.
Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden for lunch and tour. On arrival to the La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog's exhibit.

Pacuare River White Water Rafting

Pacuare is world famous for its sheer beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. Here you enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature. You see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head. Amazing views of this virgin tropical rainforest area, appear before your eyes as you descend this true exploratory land. Wildlife is abundant, with sloth, toucans, parrots, coatis, morpho butterflies and colorful frogs being common sights.
The white water that is equally exciting. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has a lot rapids, therefore giving you an adventure filled with lots of fun. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 52 rapids. Few rivers in the world can offer you so many.
Upon arrival to the river we will gear you up with a life jacket, helmet and paddle and then brief you with a full safety orientation talk. Finally, it is time to take off down the rapids!
The first 4 miles consist of fun class II-III rapids which is a perfect time to test your new river skills and gain confidence in your team. Here you can find pockets of secondary growth forest that is extremely beautiful. After about 40 minutes we will enter the famous Pacuare River Gorge, which is 5 miles of some of the best white water Costa Rica has to offer. The rapids here are "Terciopelo snake", "Double drop", "Upper and Lower Huacas", "Pin ball" to name a few. You will also see the Huacas watefall, a 150 foot dramatic drop into the river.
After the gorge the rivers opens up to a 5 mile stretch on the Valle del Pacuare, where the river has a different character. It is wide open, which gives you the opportunity to rest a bit and take the opportunity to do some wildlife spotting. The main rapids here are "Cimarrones", "The Play Hole", "El Indio" and "Magnetic Rock". The forest remains just as lush, and the rapids just as fun.
We finish in Siquirres, at our own private exploration center, where you can take a shower, change and enjoy the gardens and terrace while having a beer or two and reflecting with your new friends about the great adventure you just shared.

Note: Tortuguero National Park is considered the Amazon of Costa Rica. There exist no roads to get there; consequently the final part of the journey will be by boat.

For those who are very interested in natural life of the rain forest, we begin this tour with a 20 minute drive to the Silencio farm, from where we start our walk for about 2 ½ hours. As we walk through the forest, we have the possibility of spotting 3 species of monkeys, sloth's and a large variety of birds, including the Toucan. We end our walk with a refreshing beverage and a magnificent view, where hopefully you can see Costa Rica's most active volcano, erupting daily since 1968.

Description:
For those who are very interested in natural life of the rain forest, we begin this tour with a 20 minute drive to the Silencio farm, from where we start our walk for about 2 ½ hours. As we walk through the forest, we have the possibility of spotting 3 species of monkeys, sloth's and a large variety of birds, including the Toucan. We end our walk with a refreshing beverage and a magnificent view, where hopefully you can see Costa Rica's most active volcano, erupting daily since 1968.
Includes: Bilingual naturalist guide, beverage, entrance fee to the rainforest farm.

Pick up Time: 12:15pm. Rain Forest adventure-Canopy Tour (zip line) and tree top hanging bridges. Includes: Canopy Tour along suspended cable bridges where you will have the opportunity to experience the Monteverde Rain Forest from a viewpoint in the tops of the trees.
