New Orleans: Not very Big and not at all Easy

I had never been to New Orleans but always wanted to go since I was a kid. And so, since I had only one week off from work, my buddy Dick and I hit the road and headed south. However, we came plenty prepared emotionally and mentally yet totally unprepared financially. Everyone told us not to go and how it would be foolish, but we have long been fools, and stubborn ones at that. We had never been there and so we went... it's as simple as that. But this was not the same New Orleans I grew up dreaming of, oh no, this was a post-hurricane-leveled city still deep in recovery and slipping ever more into third world status...
