Solo trip to Walt Disney World
About this blog
I'll be making a solo trip to one of my favorite places -- Walt Disney World -- just two weeks from the day I'm typing this. I'd been looking into a research trip and decided to jump on it while things are slow at my day job. (Hubby can't join me, unfortunately.) Our travel website will be launching soon and this will be a good opportunity to get information for our Orlando destination page.
I'm making this as much of a budget trip as possible. Southwest came through with good airfare on direct flights (which is the main reason I'm traveling during the week) and Disney gave me a bit of a discount on the room. I'll be staying at a Disney value resort, Pop Century. I've stayed at All-Star Music, another value -- but that was in 1991. Hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise. If not, hey -- I'll only be using the room to sleep and shower.
I'm not renting a car this time, which will be interesting. I'm very familiar with the Disney transportation system but like having a car to get around faster and for more flexibility. But, to save a few bucks and in the name of research, I'm going without the car. I'll use Disney's Magical Express to and from the airport and Disney buses, monorails and boats while on property. (Not having a car also means I likely won't leave Disney property.)
I secured dinner reservations at two places that are new to me, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge and La Hacienda de San Angel at EPCOT. I also plan to visit attractions I've never tried and some that I haven't been on since I was a kid.
I'll be tweeting (@twoonholiday) during my trip and hopefully updating this blog -- but Disney internet isn't free so we'll have to see how the latter works out.
Stay tuned!
