When we were finally able to contemplate travelling again after our last epic journey David laid down the following ground rules: English speaking and first world. For more than a year I tried to convince him that either Iran or the Czech Republic admirably fitted these criteria ... then we went to the States.
Still this was a step up from a Pacific island or Bay of Plenty beach for a blob out holiday. He had been in Chicago on business for two weeks before I arrived ... and will be for a further three weeks after I left. We had a road trip planned ... we may not do another one for a while.
