My Trip to Shannon's home in Snowflake, Arizona

About this blog

This was a fun trip to Snowflake in the Arizona White Mountains. It was great meeting my daughter Shannon and her 17 year old daughter Leah again. I am so proud of my granddaughter. Leah is training to be a fire fighter and EMT. She is doing great! Shannon has a beautiful little place within Snowflake. She can easily walk to work at the local CircleK. The locals call her Julia because she looks so much like Julia Roberts. The next day, I met Shannon's new boyfriend. His name is Bud and he is lots of fun to be around! They seem to get along fine. Bud manages a group of auto glass crews around the nation. The company name is The Glass Guru. We had a really fun time out at Buds place east of Snowflake. The people in that area are called "The Eastie Beasty's". This area is full of very independent, off-the-grid people who do NOT wish to be disturbed. :-) We then took a great trip over a nearby mesa called The Black Mesa. We did some serious four wheeling and exploring up to the top of the mesa. There were abandoned homes everywhere. It is a serious place to live in the winter and gets very cold up there. Many well meaning folks moved up there and quickly move back down right after Winter! :-( We ended up with a great picnic at the bottom in a beautiful field. Thanks Shannon and Bud! It was great weekend! Dad
