About this blog

Here I go again! Traveling to the edge of the world once more to subject myself to malaria, intestinal parasites, scorching sun, and wild beasts...and I could not be more excited about it...because this time I am not just volunteering, I am going to put my eyes on the Community Center and meet the children and families whose lives are improved by the generosity of my incredible friends-you!!! This would not have been possible without the $25K Megan Miller and I raised due to your big hearts. I've uploaded some initial photos of the Center's foundation and frame to wet your appetite. The next photos you see will have my smiling face in them.

I am especially excited about this year's grand adventure because Laura Heller and Katie Sylvester will be joining me!! I'm hoping you will get to hear their version of the trip on this blog as well. The start of our journey will begin in 3 weeks and includes 2 red eye flights, no leg room, at least 5 movies on a 4" x 4" screen, an 8 hour layover in London, a whole lot of patience, and lots of valium. We will arrive in Lusaka, Zambia on the 13th (2 days after we leave NYC) and plan to visit our collective 7 sponsor children, and view the site of the community center.

Here's how you can continue to support us along the way. 1) Sponsor a child. Megan and I set out to inspire 50 additional Children International Sponsorships. So far 10 people have taken on sponsorships due to our outreach. Will you be number 11? www.children.org

2) Make a one time donation through Megan's nonprofit called Charity Chic. Although Megan and I have already raised $27K, our ultimate goal is $50K...The next $12K we raise will go toward an early childhood education program. You can donate online to via the Network for Good
