Costa Rica Today is by far the most democratic country in Central America. It is a small country,but the people enjoy a relatiely high standard of living. The country is marked by spectacular volcanoes. There is very little flat land. The plains along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts are charaterized by tropical forests and superb beaches. The remainder of the country is mountainous and precipitous.
