OCMD mini trip
About this blog
Ben and I got down to OCMD at about 2 p.m., and checked into our pet-friendly hotel with Pascal. The Safari Motel was in an awesome location, set right on the boardwalk at 13th Street.
After getting the puppy settled in, we went out to the beach. I did water aerobics in the ocean for about 30 minutes, and it was awesome! I highly recommend ocean water aerobics to anyone. It was a great workout and a lot of fun.
After getting out of the water and spending a little time laying out, we stopped back to take out the puppy and change clothes for dinner. It was then that I realized that I completely forgot to pack underwear. Fortunately, we rediscovered the outlets while we were on the way to make a 20-mile trek to Wal-Mart.
After returning to the motel, we spent a fair bit of time walking around in search of a good restaurant. We finally settled on Pickles Pub, as we were both very hungry. After dinner, we showered and changed into our going-out clothes. Ben had bought some orange cream vodka at the liquor store that adjoined the restaurant, so we had some light drinks while getting ready to go out.
We eventually took the bus out to Seacrets, which I always say is my favorite place in Ocean City. However, I realized that because I ALWAYS choose to go there when I am in OC, I really don't know if it is my favorite. The place has changed so much from when I was first there 10 years ago. But it was still a good time, and I still honored my tradition of drinking a long island iced tea out on the pier.
In fact, I drank a little too much that night. Ben woke up bright and early and went for a long bike ride on the board walk while I slept it off a little. Because checkout was at 11 a.m., we only had a little time to sit on the board walk and enjoy the atmosphere by the time I woke up and dressed for the day.
On the drive back, we stopped at several local farmers markets and filled up the car with fresh produce and eggs. That was actually one of the highlights of the trip for me, as I am getting really into eating locally-grown food as much as possible. I also love the ambiance of a farm stand on the side of the road. The last one we went to even had some cute goats!
