Earlier this year I promised myself that if England somehow managed to beat Australia at cricket over the summer then I'd go and watch them on this winter's tour.

Then I found out they were going to Pakistan.

Then we actually beat the Aussies!

Then there was the terrible earthquake.

Then I saw the travel warnings issued by the Foreign Office.

Then I thought whether I should still go.

Then I though 'sod it' and got my visa.

Then I got on a plane.
