Hiking the Appalachian Trail in the Great Smokey Mountains
About this blog
Our hiking trip along the Appalachian Trail in the Smokey Mountains. 70 Miles from end to end, we spent 6 days and 5 nights on the trail from October 23rd through October 28th, 2007. There are 12 shelters (lean-tos) along the way which usually have springs or streams nearby where you can get water, however at the time of our hike there was no water for the last 20 miles. The lowest point for us was 1,775 feet, the highest point was 6,643 feet (3rd highest peak east of the Mississippi).
