Our aim is to travel Australia in a van affectionately named Bert! Exploring new places, working different jobs and sleeping under the stars.
Bert is a 1985 Toyota Hiace, long wheelbase, commuter van. He has a diesel engine and has been converted from a 12 seat bus to a campervan. We have a bed, sink and fridge built in, and plenty of cupboards and storage space. We have given Bert an inverter so that we can run our domestic appliances, a solar panel so as not to drain his battery too much, a safe to keep our valuables, a generator for when there's no power at all, a microvave for convenient cooking when power is available and an illuminated starscape space scene on the roof so that we will always sleep under the stars! For extended stays in the one spot we have an annexe and for additional transport we will be taking our pushbikes. Our Ipod will provide the soundtrack for our trip and we will be guided by GPS.
Our first and only plan is to head north, away from Melbourne's chilly winter to warmer more tropical climates, ideally 1669km (1037 Miles) north! from there we will explore this vast island.
