Carofoley's Great Adventure
About this blog
Well, I've decided to treat myself to the trip of a lifetime. Having lived in Australia for over 40 years now, I am planning to go back to Europe, particularly France, for at least 6 months or more. I want to visit family and friends but I also want to absorb the atmosphere in Europe. Growing up in England and spending most holidays in France and Ireland, I miss the language, culture and people. I want to immerse myself in the French way of life for a while and try to get my French back to its previous level.
As I am deserting Terry for such a long period of time, we decided we should have a holiday in Bali for a couple of weeks before I head off on my own. So we take off on Sunday 09 May and we plan to stay four nights in Maya Loka villas, four nights on Lembongan Island and back to Bali for the rest of the stay. Our lovely friends Karen and Rob have invited us to stay in their gorgeous villa Prasada for a few days. The Clarkes rent out this villa so if anyone is interested in booking this delightful place, got to www.flipkey.com and look up Bali, Villa Prasada.
I leave for Istanbul on 21 May and Terry returns to Perth. I fly through Doha in Qatar before arriving in Istanbul a few days before my Intrepid tour (Turkish Delights) starts. At the end of the Turkish tour I have 5 days before meeting my brother Tony in Rome. I am hoping to be able to contact Angelica in Athens so that I can catch up with her on my way to Italy.
After Rome, Tony and I head up to Pisa, meet Jan and then book into our villa in Lucca for a week. We will tour Tuscany and visit the Cinque Terre. At the end of our stay in Italy I head for France. Hopefully I will catch up with a childhood friend, Anne Catherine Royer-Gaudry. After this my plans are very liquid. I don't plan to make too many arrangements as I want to be able to take up any invitation that comes my way. I do plan to visit my brother Patrick in Spain, my cousin Jean Michel and my friend Caroline de Glanville in France, catch up with lots of people, family and places in England, as well as catch up with my good friend Linda in Ireland etc. Sasha is also planning to visit Europe this summer and we are planning to spend some time together somewhere.
So rather than constantly sending emails and photos to everyone, I decided to start a blog. Easier on me I guess. I hope you don't mind the fact that this is not "one to one".
