3 generations of Burkes: 2 grandparents, 4 parents, and 4 kids will converge in the New England post-card resort of Cape Porpoise, Maine. Get ready for family summer mayhem under one guest house roof.
About this blog
The Burkes have been doing this thing with a cast of various family member combinations for over three generations now. And it seems when we all converge on this place to grab the sights, smells, and sun of a New England seaside, really nothing has ever changed. Time stands still, at least in the 43 years I have been coming down here. For here in "The Kennebunks" (yeah, yeah: "The Hamptons" on training wheels) tradition is the key. For example, most signage for merchants is in carved wood and limited to three displays per establishment - and that includes terrasse parasols. No tacky new materials or disruptive esthetics to kill THAT TRADITION...... Just the way we all want it.
