About this blog

We traveled first to Bangkok for an overnight and then a quick morning tour of the city. Then it was on to Cambodia where we were supposed to be picked up by our guide to join our tour at the hotel....but no one was there! Fortunately we knew the name of the hotel and took a cab there after being assisted by a half-dozen Cambodian men who were trying to figure out what we wanted (as one one spoke English and we certainly didn't speak Cambodian). Another little adventure. The thrill of seeing Angkor Wat and the bustling activity of restoration and rebuilding was wonderful. Then we flew on to Vietnam visiting Saigon (where the people continue to refer to their city as Saigon rather than Ho Chi Minh City), the Cu Chi Tunnels, DaNang, Hoian, Hue, Hanoi and the spectacular Halong Bay. Our favorite city in Vietnam was a toss up between the old and beautiful former capital of Hue and the beautiful colonial city of Hanoi with its many lakes.
