Iowa State Biomes of Australia Biology trip and an added bonus to New Zealand in the summer of 2003.
About this blog
My trip to the southern hemisphere consisted of 20+ students and my biology professor Dr. Warren Dolphin and his wife. We spent 4 weeks traveling around Australia staying in hostels, huts, tents, bungalos, and under the stars as we learned the unique biology, culture, and climate of the southern continent. My area of study was the ecological role of termites in dry environments (found electronically at http://www.biology.iastate.edu/intop/1Australia/Australia%20papers/EcolAusTermites%20.htm) After the month in Australia was over I elected to travel the south island of New Zealand with a few of my friends from class. My summer in the southern hemisphere was a life changing experience to say the least.
