My sister, Valerie, announced in July that she was flying to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with her kids. Her enticing offer of no accommodation charges for us made it easy for me and my girlfriend, Joanna, to join her. One catch: help look after the kids and pay for groceries. No biggie. The trip would coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday and with Joanna's birthday, so I had three excruciating months to wait before the festivities arrived. This was my first trip to Mexico since a party-consumed spring break extravaganza my senior year of college. Now, it was time to do Mexico in style, and appreciate some quality, Latin American culture.
