Chilling in The Philippines
About this blog
Inspired by chat friends who live there, I have developed an interest in The Cordillera Region from many years ago. I was then living in Canada and seeing no possibility of a visit. It was put on the shelves and almost forgotten.
In May, now that I am retired and living partly in Singapore, a chat with a friend from Isabela, sparked off this trip. Initially I planned on only Baguio but a notice board in the hotel in Baguio about trips out of Baguio brought about the 1-night stay in Sagada. Had I known how captivating the feel in Sagada is, I'd have extended my Philippines trip and stayed there longer.
Baguio's Loakan Airport doesn't operate anymore. Bus to Baguio takes 7 hours and from there to Sagada 6 hours. Except for Tam Awan Village, I would rather skip the popular Baguio whose crowded and commercialized city center is not to my liking If there be another chance, I would fly to Tuguegarao, north-east of Sagada and bus it down to the mountainous wilderness of Sagada, Barlig and the like.
