'From Here to Santiago' solidarity walk for abuse victims
About this blog
My name is Anja Bakker and I know that we can all agree that 'abuse' of any person young or old is wrong.
I believe, in fact, that we believe 'abuse' in not acceptable anymore in this society. And because I feel the point cannot be made strongly enough I am committing my summer to standing in solidarity with all whom have been and are still being abused. I am carrying a 26-string harp from St James' Well in Ardfield, Clonakilty, West-Cork to Dublin and after that to Santiago de-Compostella in Northern Spain. Every day I will walk and play harp and invite all to join me; come and stand with me in solidarity with all the people we know have been hurt by people they trusted or where dependent on and come for a song, come for a walk, offer me a bed or a meal, come and be part of this journey...
The walk will start in Clonakilty, West Cork, and go to Dublin first to give me the opportunity to meet as many people here. After arriving in Dublin I'll walk down along the coast to Rosslare in Co. Wexford where I'll take the boat to Roscoff in France. I will follow the French coastline down to the mouth of the Gironde just above Bordeaux where on the Point Grave I'll join the Voie Littorale one of the four medieval Camino routes over Bayonne where the way will come together on the Voie Francese a little before Burgos to finally finishing in Santiago de Compostella.
The Camino to Santiago or the 'St James' Way' is traditionally one of personal growth and healing and I again would like to invite those who can to come and share this journey or part of it in solidarity.
