Trek to Alaska
About this blog
Moving from Topeka, KS to Anchorage, AK. Doug, Toby and I are hopping in the truck and taking a little drive north...but first south. Decided to go to LA first (yes, the wrong way) to go see Gav and Vicki in sunny California. Plus, why not go see what perfect weather is while we continue to drive north into the dead of an Alaskan winter?!
We've come to like Kansas pretty well (can't say it was an immediate liking) and we'll be sad to leave our friends behind. But the military provides us with this opportunity to move on, move forward and 'wing it' for a while. There's not many other career paths that allow a family to pack up and travel for an entire month while continuing to collect a pay check!
Alaska looks amazing, too! Millions of hiking, biking, snowshoeing trails. Millions of acres of untouched land. Fishing, skiing, sightseeing. Northern lights. Not to mention SEAFOOD! (KS can't keep up with my cravings.) And breweries, and quality restaurants that sound promising (I've been looking at menus online already). Anchorage has numerous farmers' markets, and bikram yoga! Can't wait to get there and find even more goodies!
